A top Geneva Servette hockey player has lost a kidney after a heavy challenge during a game last month.
23-year-old Simon Le Coultre from canton Vaud was hit during a game against the Ticinese club Ambri Piotta last month.
He was hospitalized in Lugano for several days, but the shock to the organ was so severe, it couldn’t be saved.
While he won’t be returning to the ice this season – the club said in a statement that he’s doing well and will be able to play again.
