Prime Geneva land handed back to people

A significant chunk of prime real-estate has been handed back to the people of Geneva, but it will be a few years before it fully realises its potential.

The public transport company, the TPG, has left the bus depot at Jonction after more than 100 years.

The depot lies between the Rhone river leaving the lake and the Arve merging with it.

Many have thought having a bus depot on the land between the two rivers to be waste of what could be a beautiful public space.

The departure of the buses has long been planned, and it was decided in 2016 the land will be turned into a public park with swimming facilities.

But that will take around 3 or 4 years to build, but from now you can visit the area and see what’s planned as a series of exhibitions have been set up outlining the future development.
