Pressure grows to expand certificate use

Pressure on the government to expand the use of the vaccine passport in growing.

The head of the Swiss Vaccination Commission, Christoph Berger, told the SonntagsZeitung newspaper yesterday time is running out and the government needs to act immediately.

Berger says he believes the amount of people vehemently opposed to being vaccinated is actually quite small – and they can’t be reasoned with.
He adds the health system is now under strain.

He also supports compulsory vaccination for those who have close social contact – such as teachers, health workers and catering staff.

The majority of cantonal health directors also support the expansion of the vaccination certificate.

The Federal Council is likely to discuss the matter at their next meeting on Wednesday.
