New first-class seat being fitted to SWISS International Airlines planes are causing a weight problem.
The new chairs are heavier, but at the same time economy seats are lighter.
This is causing a balance problem.
The airline has confirmed weekend press reports they’re having problems with the centre of gravity on the Airbus A330. It may have to add extra weight using lead panels.
But heavier planes mean more fuel burnt and higher CO2 emissions.
SWISS is merely following the trend of more private first class cabins.
