The on-going saga on new ways to cross the lake shows no sign of going away.
Now the Swiss People’s Party in Geneva is launching an initiative to build a road tunnel under the rade.
This should not be confused with a proposed lake crossing – which would be either a bridge, tunnel or a combination of the two, further north.
This idea is a tunnel which would be close to the Mont-Blanc Bridge.
Backers of the idea, which includes the motoring organisation the TCS and Geneva taxi companies, say it is the only way to cut jams in the city centre.
