NATO to set up Geneva office

The military alliance NATO is looking to set up an office in Geneva.

It’s described as a liaison office designed to strength the links between the UN and other organisations.

Swiss authorities say talks are already underway.

The Foreign Affairs Office says a NATO liaison office will work with international and non-governmental organisations in Geneva and not with the Swiss state, so has no impact on neutrality.

NATO says the office will be small and its likely to have a staff of around four.

NATO and the UN have been working together for many years, especially in peace keeping operations in the Balkans, Afghanistan and Libya.
