Legal experts are advising motorists not to intervene themselves if held up by climate activists – warning they’re exposing themselves to legal action and could only exacerbate the situation.
But those who suffer a genuine financial loss due to the blockage could sue the individuals concerned.
Over the weekend in Bern, a group of motorists did try to take matters into their own hands by removing protestors.
Legal expert Amr Abdelaziz told the 20 Minutes newspaper that people do not have the right to act.
But he does point out if someone can prove they suffered a loss, like missing a flight or a business failing to make a delivery on time – then the individual could be sued.
The climate group, Renovate Switzerland, says it hasn’t received any claims so far.
