A mother in canton Aargau has to get her 5-year-old child vaccinated against a variety of diseases – against her wishes.

The parents are separated and the father wanted the boy to be jabbed against measles, mumps, diphtheria and other standard infections.

The mother disagreed and took the case to court. Federal judges have ruled in favour of the father and the child will be vaccinated.

The ruling was clear. The court says in the case of a disagreement between parents – then the decision is made by social services, which will always follow recommendations by the Federal Health Office – which says children should be vaccinated.
