A former manager for the software company, Microsoft, is in court for allegedly selling licenses privately and netting several million francs.
The court in Winterthur heard the 65-year-old man ran his side-line for many years. He was in charge of large clients, such as schools.
But part of his undoing was that Microsoft doesn’t sell licences to schools – but to local authorities.
The first signs of something amiss were seen in 2004. He was arrested once before and spent a year in jail.
Prosecutors say he amassed a CHF 4m fortune.
