A man is in court after a 33-year-old customer at a service station in Saint-Julien-en-Genevois was stabbed several times after a dispute about where to queue for fuel.
The attack was last Wednesday. The seriously injured victim says he didn’t realise he was being stabbed until he saw the blood.
Tensions have been high at French filling stations for the last few weeks as Swiss customers have been taking the advantage of cheaper fuel across the border due to a French tax cut.
The fight broke out after the alleged attacker was told he was in the wrong queue.
The extra demand has been straining supplies and many French stations have been running out of fuel. The situation is now worse as French refinery workers are striking – which is reversing the flow of customers back to Swiss forecourts.
