Man fined for killing driver

A man has been found guilty in Zurich for negligent homicide after he hit and killed a 61-year-old on the A1 autoroute.

In February this year there’s been a minor accident when the victim’s car has hit by another. The man got out to exchange details – but was then struck by a passing car traveling at 80 kph. The man was thrown through the air for several meters.

The driver of the passing car was found to be over the drink drive limit and was travelling too fast for the wet conditions. The court also determined the victim had behaved improperly after the first accident.

The 33-year-old was sentenced to a fine of CHF 1,500 and given a suspended 16-month prison term. He will also have to pay damages to the victim’s family – but that amount has not been determined.
