Hundreds demonstrated in Pfäffikon in canton Zurich against the dismissal of a gay teacher.
The crowd was a mix of parents, politicians and other groups – according to the youth wing of the Zurich Social Democrats.
The teacher was sacked after untrue allegations were made against them by conservative parents.
The demonstration committee say the that area of the Zurich Oberland is known for conservative organisations which makes homosexual agitation omnipresent.
The Zurich education director, Silvia Steiner, says the local authority made a recommendation – but the school took a different approach.
The school says it will now investigate the matter.
