A diver in Lake Geneva died yesterday after he was caught up in ropes surrounding a wrecked sailing boat.
The 55-year-old was a member of the Léman Underwater Club based in Thonon-les-Bains.
His buddy and another diver both tried to free the man – but couldn’t do it fast enough.
The diver was airlifted to the Geneva University Hospital and placed in a decompression chamber – but he could not be revived.
An investigation is underway.
