Hotel des Bergues damaged by fire

The luxury Hotel des Bergues in Geneva has been damaged after a fire broke out last night.

The alarm was raised at 9.30pm.

It started at the Izumo restaurant on the 7th floor. All staff and guests were evacuated. No one was injured. A hotel spokesman says the safety of guests and staff is a priority.

55 firefighters managed to get the blaze under control within an hour and guests were allowed back at 10.30.

How the fire broke out is now under investigation.
