The ski run on the glacier at Saas-Fee has been closed to the public for the first time.
It’s due to the lack of snow over the winter and the warm temperatures at the moment. It reached 21 degrees yesterday afternoon and it’s expected to hit 24 later this week. Normally, it averages 8 degrees at the height of summer.
Only a limited number of slopes will be available for professionals training.
Emmanuel Rossi from the Saaser Bergbahnen says the situation will be re-assessed in a couple of weeks. He hopes there’ll be some fresh snow in August.
