Genevans will vote on whether to boost funding for culture.
The “1% for Culture” initiative, submitted yesterday with over 7,000 signatures, calls for at least one percent of the canton’s operating budget to go to arts and culture.
Supported by left-wing parties and cultural groups, the proposal aims to improve pay, protect jobs, and broaden access to culture.
The committee says the strong public response shows that culture is viewed as a necessity, not a luxury.
