A billion francs will be spent on public buildings in Geneva to make them less energy intensive. The project will run until 2036.
The money will be spent on insulation, which includes changing the windows, new heating systems to get rid of oil and gas and new low power lighting.
The canton backed the plan on Friday. The money will come from the already agreed 6 billion franc budget for ecological transition as part of the ten year investment plan.
