Canton Geneva has launched a USD 100m lawsuit against the US travel firm Expedia in an American federal court in Seattle.
The canton is arguing Expedia abused it monopolistic power to destroy a Geneva vacation booking website, Amoma.
Expedia owns and runs Trivago.
The lawsuit alleges Expedia changed the algorithms used by Trivago – which is a comparison site – to direct customers to Expedia’s own companies, bypassing Amoma.
Lawyers for Geneva argue that sank Amoma. The Geneva site generated USD 2.5bn between 2014 and 2019.
