Geneva municpal police want more safety

Geneva municipal police officers have launched a petition to give them more powers and the right to carry a sidearm and use blue lights on their vehicles.

The demands are nothing new, but the fight has been given some impetus since cantonal police shot dead a man with a knife last month.

A third of the officers have been injured in the line of duty already this year according to internal documents.
