With the warmer weather, the lake police are reminding people of some basic rules of enjoying the water.
They point out there are several accidents every year because many fail to follow the basics.
The boat captains say it’s common to find swimmers clinging to the side when the boat is in the harbour. Authorities point out it’s illegal to swim within 100 metres of a boat or harbour.
Also, swimmers should not be in the path of a boat.
If you fancy water skiing, it’s the law that there must be at least two people on the towing boat – one to pilot and the other to check on the skier. Water skiing is not allowed within 300 meters of the shore.
And those on the water are reminded if there’s a formal sailing race on the lake – all other users must make way for the competitors.
