Feminine hygiene products free to all Geneva schools

Canton Geneva will provide free feminine hygiene products to all schools after a sustained campaign by groups and some communes, including the city of Geneva.

In secondary school for those aged over 15, there'll be machines which supply tampons and pads.

For those schools for kids between 12 and 15, only pads will be on offer, due to worries over toxic shock syndrome.

While it is expected the need will be far less for elementary kids, for those under 12, schools will also be given a supply to be handed out by staff if required.

One of the campaigners, Mia, says having the machines is a far better alternative than having to ask staff for supplies.
