EU/Swiss talks set to resume after 3 year break

Switzerland and the EU are set to relaunch talks after the collapse of negotiations in 2021.

The president Viola Amherd will travel to Brussels today to meet with the EU counterpart, Ursula von der Leyen.

There have been quiet backroom talks between the two sides for the last few years and the EU says there’s renewed confidence after the federal council adopted a new negotiating mandate.

The EU wants to incorporate a slew of individual agreements into one over arching framework. Switzerland wants better access to the electricity market and railways.
