There may be hope in the fight against hospital infections, following a breakthrough at the EHT University in Zurich.
It follows the death of a man who was severely injured in the Crans Montana fire. He contracted an infection before dying.
The new development is a gel which blocks bacteria from entering a wound, then the gel kills the infection when ultra-violet light is shone on it.
Initial tests are proving positive, human trials are planned next.
