Drivers ticketed near schools

Geneva city police have been cracking down on drivers near schools – and in one week, they issued 236 tickets.

The offences ranged from not showing daytime running light, not wearing a seat belt, running red lights and using a phone.

The police say their actions are designed to be preventative and their presence helps stop dangerous behaviour.

It’s normal the police check traffic near schools at the start of the academic year.
