Dog owners fearful after social media message

Dog owners in Lausanne have been shocked by a social media message doing the rounds claiming that 9 animals have died after eating poisoned meat left in nearby parks and forests.

Some owners are now refusing to let their dogs off the lead while walking.

But none of it is true. There’s been no reports of dogs dying by poisoning from vets or the police.

Kevin Diserens from Medi-Vet in Lausanne says deliberate poisonings are very rare. He does see animals becoming sick after eating compost, human medication and chocolate.
