Confusion over US tariifs

Switzerland is weighing its response after the US Supreme Court struck down much of Donald Trump’s tariff regime.

The ruling casts doubt on the 15 percent additional duties provisionally negotiated with Bern, which were based on the now-invalidated emergency powers.

The Federal Council says it is analysing the implications.

The Economics Ministry, headed by Guy Parmelin, is declining to comment on US case law.

With talks ongoing, officials say Switzerland will push for greater legal certainty, amid fears that renewed tariff measures could prolong uncertainty for exporters.
