Complaints of over-zealous police

Zurich police are being accused of being over zealous after they fined 20 people in one hour for walking on the road near a building site.

The works mean the sidewalk has been closed and signs urge pedestrians to use the other side. But as the section is only a few meters long, many choose not to cross and keep walking. That’s where they're being fined for ignoring the signs.

The fine is 20 francs.

One of those getting a ticket complained not only about the fine, but that it took four police officers to issue it.
