The Fontenette swimming pool in Carouge will be open this summer.
It was planned the pool would have to close to allow for the start of construction of a new multi-million-franc aquatic centre.
But the local branch of the Swiss People’s Party has collected enough signatures for a referendum. As that can’t be held until June, it’ll be too late to start work this year.
The Party believes the centre is too expensive for the commune.
