The Geneva music project, ‘La Cité de la Musique’ could be resurrected, only weeks after being narrowly rejected by voters in the City of Geneva – opening a debate over the responsibilities which are split between the canton and the city.
The cantonal Grand Council has passed a motion to override the vote and go ahead anyway.
But they are promising to talk to those who are opposed in an effort to alleviate their fears.
The move has united the Swiss People’s Party and the Greens by calling the move a ‘denial of democracy’.
