There are worries quarantine may be re-introduced for those arriving in the country.

The number of people in intensive care has climbed rapidly in the last month. On the first of August there were 23 people in ICU units, now there are around 160.

Many of the new admissions are people who have arrived back after traveling over the summer.

Lukas Engelberger, head of the Conference of Cantonal Health Directors, says we must seriously consider reintroducing quarantine for international travellers.

The fear is the health system will find itself under strain to the extent that normal procedures will have to be postponed. As they were during the initial waves.

Jürg Hodler, Medical Director at the University Hospital in Zurich, says if the number of hospitalizations continue to rise, they will have to postpone operations.
