Rescuers found five dead bodies on the Adler Glacier on Saturday afternoon.
Two other skiers came across abandoned equipment just below the summit – with no trace of the owners.
A helicopter was dispatched with a doctor and paramedic on board. But they were too late, all five were dead.
Valais police say formal identification has yet to be made. An investigation is underway.
