The Geneva commune of Bernex has finally given the go ahead for a new industrial zone – although the vote was close.
It will cover 150,000 m2 and it’s hoped it will generate at least a thousand new jobs.
The development was also needed to ensure Caran d’Ache – the stationary, pens and pencil company – keeps it factory in the commune.
A communal spokesman admits the stakes are high as there are plans to attract new companies to the development.
