Zelensky says he should meet Putin in Geneva

Ukrainian president Volodmyr Zelensky says the only way to end the war in his country is for his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin to meet him directly - and he’s suggesting Putin should travel to Geneva. The current peace talks underway in Geneva are faltering.

Reports suggest Russia is demanding the Donbass region and is rejecting freezing the current frontline.

Ukraine is offering to keep  the frontline where it is at the moment and then putting any deal to a referendum - but it wants a 60 day ceasefire to hold the vote.

Russia is offering only one day.

Zelenskyy says the only way to make a deal is if he and Putin meet directly and he says that should be in Geneva. Russia says the two can meet in Moscow, but Ukraine is rejecting that offer.
