Young people suffering mentally during second wave

Young people are being particularly badly affected by mental health problems during the second wave and many are unable to get professional help due to the high demand.

The website sanasearch.ch, which puts people in touch with therapists, say they’ve seen a 20% rise in demand since the start of the second wave.

The main issues are the inability to visit friends, go to a bar, loss of their apprenticeship and a feeling of hopelessness for the future.

The high levels of stress are triggering eating disorders and suicidal thoughts, say analysts.

One psychotherapist, Konrad Stettbacher, told the 20 minutes newspaper he’s had 60% more calls since the start of the second wave.
He says many have a feeling of pointlessness.
