The number of young people seeking help with suicidal thoughts has leapt since the pandemic – and many will have to wait before they can have a talk with a therapist.
Figures from the youth protection organisation, Pro Juventute, show suicidal thoughts amongst the young were up 26% last year.
Last year there was on average one intervention every two days. Four years earlier, it was 57 in the whole year.
Campaigners say there needs to be better awareness of the help available and there should be more psychiatric support.
