Worries about neurality

Is Switzerland’s neutrality being eroded?

Some worry that may be the case as the government has given the go ahead to take part in military programmes with the EU and NATO.

Swiss soldiers are training in cyber security with NATO and Ukraine.

One agreement with the EU would allow troops from other European countries to cross Swiss borders more easily and ten army IT specialists have been studying cyber warfare with 40 other countries, including Ukraine.

An army spokesman says there’s no ‘direct’ cooperation with the Ukrainians – they just happen to be involved with the same exercise, which does not constitute support to a warring party and is compatible with neutrality.
