The wolf population in canton Graubünden is thriving and almost all packs have successfully bred this year.
The cantonal office for hunting and fishing says there are now wolves in all valleys – either in packs or individually.
It’s thought there are around 100 in the canton. Authorities have asked Bern for permission to control the numbers as wolves are protected.
Since the middle of the year, the animals have killed over 200 farm animals – mainly sheep and goats.
