Ten sheep were killed in a wolf attack in Valeyres-sous-Rances, northern Vaud, during the night from Monday to Tuesday this week.
This marks the first significant wolf attack on livestock in the canton this year.
Since January, only isolated lynx incidents had been reported, mainly in Lavaux and Chablais. The last confirmed wolf attack occurred in November 2024.
Following the incident, Prométerre - the Vaud Association for the Promotion of Agricultural Trade, and Agora - the umbrella organisation for French-speaking agriculture, are calling for swift action and tighter regulation of the wolf population.
