WHO cuts could be worse than feared

World Health Organisation

There are fears the job cutting at the World Health Organisation could be worse than originally thought.

The organisation is currently in crises after the United States announced it’s withdrawal.

The Trump Administration isn’t paying the money it already owes, and many other countries have cut their contributions to the WHO.

Original estimates were that as many as 25% of staff could be cut – but now there are suggestions it could be as high as 35%.

One unnamed staffer told the Tribune de Genève that they expected it to be tough, but not this tough.

The WHO employs 2,400 people – the cuts would mean more than 800 will lose their jobs.
