We’re all grinding our teeth more – and it’s likely to be the stress of living with Covid.

Technically it’s known as bruxism – and it’s caused by emotional stress.

A spokesman for the Swiss Dental Association says there are more patients being treated for the condition and having their teeth repaired because of it.

Jens Christoph Türp from the Dentistry University in Basel says there has been a noticeable rise in cases since 2020.

Not all dentistry procedures are covered by basic medical insurance. If a patient needs a jaw splint, which protects the teeth, it comes with a bill of around CHF 1,300.
