Despite the rise of the streamers – we watched more linear television last year than in 2023.
But it was mainly due to sports coverage.
The two main networks in French speaking Switzerland, RTS 1 and 2, showed a rise. 54% of us watched at least 15 minutes a week last year, up one percent on the previous year.
But those figures were pushed up by sport – mainly the Euro football championships. Unsurprisingly perhaps, the most watched programme last year was the game between Switzerland and Italy.
Also highly watched was the Ice Hockey World Championship final when Switzerland faced Czech Republic.
It wasn’t all sport. We were also glued to the evening news covering the vote on the 13th monthly pension payment.
The big question will be: will the women’s Euro tournament, hosted in Switzerland this year, achieve the high levels of interest?
