We love train travel. Q2 figures are in.

Train travel in Switzerland reached an all-time high in the second quarter of 2025, with passengers covering nearly 6 billion kilometres, according to figures from public transport watchdog Litra.

The data marks the highest level recorded since quarterly statistics began over a decade ago.

Compared to the same period last year, passenger traffic on the rail network rose by 3.6%.

While passenger numbers are climbing, freight transport by rail has taken a hit - dropping by nearly 10%, mainly because of the economy and construction work on key routes through the country.
