There are worries a dog poisoner may be active again in neighbouring France. The mayor of Saint-Cergues in Haute Savoie issued a warning on Facebook.
The alarm was raised by a vet who treated an animal that had eaten a poisoned meatball. The technique has worrying similarities of a spate of poisonings in the region six years ago.
No one was arrested then – and police are investigating.
The vet advises dog owners to keep their pets on a short leash and don’t allow them to eat anything on the ground while walking.
