Warning: Halloween pranks could be criminal

It’s Halloween - and police forces around the country are warning that this time of year sees an increase in ‘pranks’ relating to trick or treating – those pranks could be criminal.

Some forces have even sent letters to parents warning them that there may be consequences.

Cases in the past include damaging cars, setting mailboxes on fire or throwing eggs at buildings.

A spokesman for Sankt Gallen police says there’s a slight increase in criminal damage at this time of year. They even warn retailers in the region not to sell too many eggs to children.

While the word ‘prank’ sounds harmless – parents are warned they may be financially liable for any damage caused.
