Vision for Grand Genève laid out

Grand Genève

After two years of discussion, the leaders of the cross-border group ‘Grand Genève, have signed a 130-page document outlining the vision of the region for the next 25 years.

Some statistics suggest there could be a further 400,000 people living in the region by 2050.

The ‘Cross Border Territorial Vision’ was adopted in Nyon yesterday.

The Geneva state councillor, Antonio Hodgers, says the idea is to ‘preserve the quality of life, prosperity and openness in face of the challenges for tomorrow’.

He also says this region is one of the most dynamic areas in Europe.

The document points to the issues of housing, transport and the environment as the major challenges.
