Village residents set up fake speed cameras

Residents of a small village in canton Schwyz are so fed up with traffic noise – they’ve installed a series of fake speed camera in a hope to slow traffic down.

There are three cameras – one is real – along a 280 meter stretch of the main road through Bennau.

Those living along the route say they’re frustrated as the commune and the canton refuses to do anything.

The police say they are aware and are in contact with the residents. But it’s unsure what they can do.

Fake cameras are not illegal – many communes already use them – but they do need planning permission.
