Victim relatives demand road changes

The relatives of a young woman who was killed on the Rue de Lausanne near the botanical gardens have collected 6,000 signatures demanding changes to the road layout to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

The woman, who was riding a bike, died last July. She’d been at the Bains des Paquis and was heading home at 2am. She was hit by a driver at more than 100 kph who was racing another driver along the road.

The relatives are calling for widened cycle lanes and a lower speed limit.

The campaign is being backed by several mobility organisations, such as Pro Vélo.
