Staff at Geneva airport made an unusual discovery last week – a large elephant tusk.
It was in a suitcase being carried by a 68-year-old American man.
Authorities say he didn’t have a CITES certificate which would allow international transport of a protected item.
The tusk was seized and passed to the Federal Veterinary Office which enforces the international convention.
The man is likely to be fined after an investigation.
