There are hopes a German TV show may finally solve a Swiss murder.
Back in 2007 a 27-year-old Egyptian man was found dead at the bottom of a pond in canton Thurgau. The man had been shot several times and the body was weighed down with a 30 kilo concrete block.
It hadn’t been there for long before discovery, certainly less than three days, as the man had been seen alive in the city of Schaffhausen, where he lived.
But who killed him and why remains a mystery.
The German crime show ‘Aktenzeichen XY Unsolved’ is picking up the case.
It’s been running since the 1960s and is credited for solving 624 murder cases.
Thurgau police are welcoming the TV involvement and seemingly accept its last chance to find an answer and promise every tip from the public will be checked.
The police also point out a CHF 10,000 reward offered for information at the time remains valid.
The show airs tonight on ZDF.
