Ukraine Peace Conference to be held in June

The Federal Council announced yesterday that a Ukraine Peace Conference will be held on June 15 and 16 in Buergenstock in Canton Nidwalden.

Switzerland had announced its willingness to host the conference in Janauary during Volodymyr Zelensky's visit.

The objective; to find a way to a concrete action plan to engage Russia in the peace process. Russia themselves will not be participating.  

President Biden is likely to attend, according to sources of the NZZ. 

Also, the Federal Council announced yesterday that Switzerland should contribute CHF 5billion to the reconstruction of Ukraine, spread over the next 12 years. The World Bank has estimated that the total amount needed for Ukraine’s reconstruction at around CHF 440billion.
